Thinking about getting a cat?

We’ve got you covered! We’ve got lots of helpful advice, hints, tips, tricks and some great links to some fantastic resources.

I’m think of getting a

Kitten or Adopting a Cat

There really isn’t anything cuter in the world than a little kitten! Several times each year in Liverpool vets and charities are inundated with unwanted kittens so please contact them first if it’s a kitten you want ( see list below). We strongly support local charities in Liverpool that rehome lost or abandoned cats, and would wholeheartedly recommend adoption if you feel you could offer a forever home. Please watch Kozal’s Story

A cat can live up to 15-20 years, so it’s a long term commitment. Kittens can also play havoc with curtains and soft furnishings! If you are thinking of getting a sibling pair just remember that they will still need their own food and litter trays as they may not always stay best of friends as they grow up.

Cats can live indoors, even in a flat but its really important to make sure that you can create an environment that gives an indoor kitten and cat a chance to play, explore, hide, climb and ‘hunt’ so they can fulfil all their feline urges and don’t get bored. Come and see our giant cat climbing frame in the practice to give you some inspiration! If you do live in a flat, it might be worth considering adopting a more mature cat who may adapt more quickly
